Beach "Malpaso" – the place near the solitary harbor

Plunging waves, peace and quiet

In English “Malpaso” means “bad step” and you definitely need to pay attention where you step because the beach lies right beneath 30 meters high cliffs. The beach is usually frequented by bodyboarders but also surfers enjoy the Playa del Malpaso.

This beach break runs around the town Telde and is only a few minutes away from the somewhat safer and more attractive Playa de la Garita. Playa del Malpaso is offside the tourist areas and only few locals visit the beach – probably due to high waves, which makes extreme sport out of swimming, or to the strong winds.

When walking towards the northern edge of the beach you will suddenly find an abandoned, worn down and a bit spooky little harbor. If you are looking for peace and quiet – this is the place to go.

Only few know this beach in Gran Canaria. After a wild time of surfing in the plunging and thus challenging waves of Malpaso, the beach invites you to loosen up and relax.
